On 25th October, there will be a special celebration of the Golden Jubilee of “ADoRE”, the Alton Day of Renewal, which has helped thousands of people to renew their faith and fan into a flame the graces received at Baptism and Confirmation. Highlights are:
Rt. Rev. Philip Egan, Bishop of Portsmouth, will start the day with Holy Mass;
International Charismatic Renewal leader, speaker and author Charles Whitehead KSG, will give the main talk;
The Filipino Choir, who sang at King Charles's Coronation Concert, will lead praise & worship.
There will also be an opportunity for adoration, confession and healing prayer ministry.
The event takes place at St. Bede's Church, Popley Way, Basingstoke, 9.30 am -- 3.30 pm. The theme for the day will be "PILGRIMS OF HOPE: THE PATH OF PRAYER", focusing on our spiritual pilgrimage into an intimate relationship with Jesus.
ADoRE Leader Alastair Emblem told CCR: "It will be a very special occasion. The Day of Renewal was born in Portsmouth Diocese fifty years ago, and over the following years, literally thousands of people attended the monthly meetings and experienced an awakening of their faith."
ADoRE is a monthly meeting of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, dedicated to the encouragement of a personal relationship with God, through Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Formed in 1975 in Portsmouth Diocese, it is one of the longest continually running Charismatic Days of Renewal in Britain.
Alastair Emblem highlighted the growth of ADoRE in recent years, saying: "Ten years ago, when we celebrated our fortieth anniversary, International Renewal leader Charles Whitehead spoke prophetically when he said 'We're a Church that's on the move, we're going to be a growing Church.'
"That's exactly what happened to ADoRE: during lockdown we had to go on to Zoom, and since then our attendance has grown dramatically. People from all over the UK and abroad now tune in to our monthly 3-hour sessions.
"We also have two in-person all-day meetings each year, and they are hosted by different parishes, so we are indeed on the move and growing. At the all-day sessions, we are able to offer face-to-face prayer ministry and have had testimonies back of both physical and inner healings. We are offering prayer ministry at the Basingstoke meeting this month."
For those unable to attend in person, the morning will also be live-streamed for remote participation online. For full details of the meeting, including timing, registration and live-stream link, go to www.altonrenewal.com/this_month
