'Resource-packed' Renewal website celebrates 10 years

ADoRE Leader Alastair Emblem outlines some of the features of their resource-packed website.


When we started our website with just three pages, using a free subscription, around 2014, I had no idea how it would develop. But ADoRE’s leader at the time, Deacon John Foley, had a vision of our website being an information resource for Catholic Charismatic Renewal beyond our limited regional reach in the East Hampshire/West Surrey area.


In June 2016, we decided to set up the site properly, with our own domain name. Initially it simply described who we were, how we had started in 1975, and gave news of our current programme. Then we gradually built up pages of information about the nature and history of Charismatic Renewal. We also had a library of sound recordings of the talks given at our monthly days of renewal in Alton, Hampshire from early 2016. Then, after our meetings went online during lockdown in 2020, we were also able to include video recordings of the talks.

Encouragement for parishes to evangelise


As each year passed, instead of deleting or archiving the information, we saved it as an information resource, so that we now have pages of video talks on topics such as Proclaiming the Good News; Alive in the Spirit; The God who speaks; Chosen to be Holy; the Lord’s Prayer; Pilgrims of Hope. There are also video feature talks by well-known speakers like Charles Whitehead, Michelle Moran, Jenny Baker, Maria Heath, Gary Stephens, Ros Powell, Fr Gareth Leyshon and Fr Chris Thomas.


Alongside this are resources and information links on topics including Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Charisms, Prophecy, Healing, Adoration and Prayer, as well as encouragement for parishes to evangelise.


We now have 55 pages and, over the last ten years, more than 79,000 visits, mostly from all over the UK but also from USA, Canada, China, Singapore and Germany, to name just a few. So the original vision has been achieved to an extent that we could never have imagined. Thanks be to God!


To coincide with the tenth anniversary of the website, we also have a new domain name alongside the original name www.altonrenewal.com. We found that people had difficulty remembering the name, especially over the last six years since we changed from meeting only in Alton and now meet mostly on Zoom, with a worldwide audience. The new name is www.adorejesus.website which we hope will be more memorable.

Regardless of whether you are interested in joining in our monthly meetings, we encourage you to make use of the extensive resources available. And if you are curious about our meetings, they are free and open to anyone, stimulating reactions such as the following comment: “Everything was so encouraging and uplifting! Our loving Father God invites us personally to attend His heavenly banquet - all He asks is that we say “Yes” to Jesus and continue to follow and obey him.
