Young aspiring worshippers are being encouraged to a be part of a ground breaking programme and join a brand new generation of worship leaders.

OHP member Joe Wells told CHARIS England and Wales: “The OHP Academy is a six-month online worship school for aspiring worship leaders, musicians and songwriters who want to invest in their leadership, grow in their practical gifting in order to serve in their local parish or group and go deeper in their journey of faith."

For more information and how to apply, please visit www.onehopeproject.co.uk/ohpacademy

The OHP Academy, which will run from September 2026 to March 2027, has been designed for participants to work alongside a job or study so people can absolutely take part whatever their circumstances. It is a six-month online worship school which is led and organised by One Hope Project (OHP), the worship collective which has over a decade’s experience in leading worship, writing songs and equipping others.

'I feel a lot more confident about leading music ministry in my parish'

Joe Wells added "If anyone is interested but would like to meet some of the OHP Academy team to ask some more questions, we are running a couple of Interest Meetings on 22 June for anyone who wants to hear a little bit more. We are running one at 12:30pm (link HERE) and one at 7:30pm (link HERE)."

"It's been an amazing privilege to journey with people from across the UK and around the world, and we're really looking forward to doing that again."

A previous participant, Simeon Adeoye from Blackburn, Lancashire, who works in supply chain management, underlined the impact of the Academy, saying: "I feel a lot more confident about leading music ministry in my parish. It makes a difference when you feel connected to the people.”

Simeon added: “You can feel quite isolated as a young person doing music ministry and, in this platform, you’re able to meet people the same age as you, who are also passionate about serving God. That was very attractive to me."

'We want to encourage you on your journey of following Jesus'

Joe Wells shared the information below about the Academy for those who are interested.

What is The Academy?

The OHP Academy is a six-month online worship school for aspiring worship leaders, musicians and songwriters who want to invest in their leadership, grow in their practical gifting in order to serve in their context and go deeper in their journey of faith. One Hope Project has over a decade’s experience in leading worship, writing songs and equipping others and we want to share our learning with you. Most importantly, we have spent a number of years following Jesus, and want to encourage you on your journey of following Jesus too.

Why we started

Music helps people pray. We’ve seen that in our churches on a Sunday. Often the people who have given their time and service to lead the music and worship have not had the opportunity for formation and investment in this area. We have also seen that, when music leaders give time and space for their journey of discipleship, this has a prayerful and powerful effect on the times of worship and liturgy, and the faith journeys of their music teams in their parishes. This is why we started The OHP Academy.

The vision and structure of The Academy

The vision for the Academy is to raise up accomplished, Spirit-filled worship leaders across the world. It has been designed to work alongside a job or study, so participants can absolutely take part no matter their circumstances. We have written the course in a manner which takes the Academy student on a journey and works out to be around one - two hours a week of investment.

A participant on the Academy receives:

  • 10 hours of formation content, split into 19 different teaching topics, which are watched in their own time.

  • 12 x 2 hour online group sessions connecting them with other participants from all over the world. These give a chance for all students to go deeper into the formation through activations and prayer alongside having small group time to connect.

  • 5 x hour sessions with a manager to help them grow practically.

  • 5 x hour sessions with a mentor to help them grow spiritually.

Underlining the vision of the Academy, Pippa Fletcher said: “The OHP Academy aims to raise up accomplished, Spirit-filled worshippers around the country. This is what we long for in every parish, every local community and every home.”
